Sustainability at Jaus Bakery
Sustainability is not just a trend, but a responsibility that we take seriously as a company. We are actively committed to protecting our environment through innovative approaches and strategic measures. Here are some key aspects of our sustainable business practices:
Own power generation
With a photovoltaic system of 578 kWp on the roof of our production hall, we already generate around 30% of our electricity requirements ourselves. This environmentally friendly source of energy not only reduces our dependence on external suppliers, but also helps to reduce CO2 emissions.
Heat recovery
Another step towards sustainability is the use of waste heat from our ovens. By recovering and using this heat, we can efficiently heat and operate other systems and parts of the building.
In this way, we minimize our energy consumption and increase the efficiency of our operating processes at the same time.
Regional raw materials
We rely on locally sourced raw materials - such as flour and sugar - to shorten transportation routes and support regional economic cycles. This not only strengthens local agriculture, but also reduces the ecological footprint of our products.
Recyclable packaging
From 2025, we will use 100% recyclable packaging film and at the same time achieve 30% film savings in the logistics area. Through these measures, we are actively contributing to the reduction of plastic waste.
Reduction of food waste
Our long-life baked goods are another component of our sustainability strategy. By offering products with longer best-before dates, we significantly reduce the amount of food that is thrown away and help to combat food waste.
Efficient logistics
A sustainable logistics is essential for us. We bundle transports to minimize journeys and maximize the utilization of our delivery vehicles. Each truck is optimally loaded, which not only saves costs but also significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions. We also optimize our warehousing through central warehouses, which reduces the number of deliveries and thus offers both economic and ecological benefits.
